DIY window cling

I think my favorite little Valentine’s craft project I made this year was this DIY window cling. Basically, all you have to do is cut out a piece of contact paper and slap it on a window or mirror, but my process was slightly more involved.

My first step was to draw a freehand outline of the word “love” on a plain white paper. I used pencil and modified it many times before I was satisfied!

I then cut a piece of white contact paper about the same size as my drawing, held them together against the sliding glass door (in afternoon sunlight), and traced the image onto the BACK of the contact paper with a Sharpie pen.

Finally, I cut out the script with my X-Acto knife. The whole word was only about 4.5″ long, and the lines were pretty narrow, so I had to be pretty careful, but I was pleased with the results.

I tried to take a picture of it after I attached it to the mirror in our hall bathroom, but quickly gave up, so here’s another closeup shot from the day I made it.

Happy Valentine’s Day to my loves.
